Question
Victoria DuPriest –
is chlorine in the water damaging to the system, and can it be removed through your guys’ system? Would an extra filter be required? Thanks

Olympia Water Systems –
Many public water systems add chlorine to their water supply for the purpose of disinfection. The chlorine in drinking water will not harm the RO system. Our RO systems use three carbon filters (stages 2-3 & stage 5) to remove chlorine during the filtration process, no extra filters are required.

Question
Jim Buehler –
How many gallons of water should I expect to produce before changing filters. Our tap water is clear with no sediment but has lots of minerals. Thank You!

Olympia Water Systems –
The Pre-Filters (stages 1-3) should be replaced every 12 months. The RO membrane (stage 4) and Post Carbon Filter (stage 5) should be replaced every 2-3 years (approximately 2,500 gallons).

FERNANDO D ALUMA –
Hi, what about replacing filters or other parts . How often they need to be replaced and cost ?. Thank you

The stage 1-3 filters should be replaced every 6-12 months. The stage 4 & 5 filters should be replaced every 2-3 years. Please note that the filter replacement time frames may vary based on source water quality and system usage. All of our replacement filters and filter packs are available through our online store at https://olympiafiltration.com/product-category/filters/.

Question
Esther Gomez –
Is it true that for every gallon of water Filter 3 gallon is wasted
(1) (0)
Olympia Water Systems –
A ratio of 3-4 gallons of waste water for 1 gallon of filtered water is standard for under-sink Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems. All RO systems use water to clean away impurities while it is filtering water, sending the waste water with the impurities to the drain. Since RO systems use the power of water pressure to filter water, it is true that RO systems use more water than they produce, however it only uses water while it is filling the storage tank. Once the storage tank is full, the RO system turns off and does not use any water.

Just finished installing the system. I replaced a basic filter hoping to stop mineral build up in my coffee pot. Very easy install. Was surprised how much pressure is at the water faucet. Water came out almost immediately after filling filter chambers.

Question
Mike –
I have had the system up and running for a month now and I bought the refrigerator kit. The system is only running to my refrigerator and I changed the filter on my refrigerator at the same time. However, my ice still has white crystals center inside the clear outer layer. Shouldn’t the ice cubes be almost 100% clear all the way through?

Olympia Water Systems –
If you have connected your RO system to your fridge using the fridge kit and your refrigerator has a separate filter, we recommend that this filter is removed as it is not needed. Please note that some refrigerators require a by-pass plug be installed in place of the filter (the by-pass plug is usually supplied with your refrigerator.) Also, a small cluster of white crystals in the center of a clear ice cube is normal using reverse osmosis water in a fridge ice maker as the water is frozen from the outside in, which means any air or remaining minerals get trapped in the center.

Question
Scott –
What happens after the storage tank is empty…are you out of water and have to wait till the tank refills??
(0) (0)
Olympia Water Systems –
When water is dispensed from the faucet the system will automatically turn on to refill the tank. If you empty the tank, you will need to give the system time to refill the tank. However, you do not have to wait for the system to fill the tank completely to dispense water from the faucet.

I installed the system about a week ago. Easy to put in. Water tastes much better than tap. No complaints.

Installed the system a couple days ago. My kids have really enjoyed the RO water, as it tastes much better than our city water. I had my brother install our system, as I’m not mechanically inclined, but he said it was easy to install. The faucet that it comes with looks nice. It was an upgrade over what came with the house.

This system has been incredible for our house. I am glad I did this because our old system had filters that were unique and impossible to find. This system has solved that problem and the water taste great.

Installed this unit in my kitchen. Installation was very simple for someone with zero plumbing experience and it fit below my sink with room to spare. The system provides plenty of drinking water for all 8 members of my household. We have never had any problems with it, no leaks or water supply issues. My kids love having filtered water in the house.

The water from my office breakroom tasted terrible and there was never enough space for enough bottled water for everyone in the breakroom fridge. I looked into getting one of those water cooler systems, but didn’t want to worry about having to buy and change the big heavy water bottles. So I got this undersink system instead.
I installed the system under the breakroom sink. It was pretty easy to install, and fit in the sink cabinet nicely. The water tastes great and I don’t have to worry about running out of filtered water since it comes straight out of the faucet.

I live in Gilbert, AZ, where we have terrible tasting tap water. I installed the system a few months ago, and it has made a huge difference in the quality of the water. Before installing the RO system, we had either been avoiding drinking water, or would buy bottled water, especially when we had out of town visitors. Now we enjoy the taste of the water, and never buy bottled water.
Installation was easy. The manual was easy to follow, and we didn’t have any issues. We hooked up the RO system to our refrigerator, so the water comes out cold.
